Birthday in the Everglades

Hello Friends & Magic Fans!

Let it not be said that persuasive friends should never try to talk you into an adventure when the elements are against you. Sometimes when the odds are stacked up against your favor, it creates the perfect environment for unforgettable episodes in life!

's New Friends.jpg

Case in point here. My friends, Adrian Luckett and Frank Koenig, decided to embark on an adventure into the everglades with me to celebrate my birthday in the swamp. To some this may sound ridiculous, but after the constant excitement at Frank’s Magic Bar, sometimes you just want to get away into the wilds of nature to bonds with the elements. Its a really good & therapeutic idea. that is, of course if someone in the group bothers to check the weather before leaving.

We battled through storm after storm to get to our destination in the middle of the everglades. The plan was to go to Miccosukee Indian Village. To be honest the Miccosukee were Mega-Suckie! We were treated so rude they will never see a dollar from us again under any circumstances. After pretending we weren’t there, they finally sold us tickets to the tour of the village, at which point the only guide out of the 5 would-be tribesmen that were standing there in their Metallica and batman t-shirts (Very authentic wardrobe) announced that he was going on lunch break for two hours! At this point we took our selves on our own tour. No one even seemed to care that people were in the building unless you were ready to purchase a heavily marked up set of dream catcher ear rings. We were still in good spirits though. After all, we could still see Alligator wrestling at 3pm and there were the fan boats! Alligators 1.jpg

Alligators with no one to wrestle…

Well 3pm came around and, you guessed it, no Alligator wrestling. Turns out the guide (who was still on break) was also the wrestler.

Next item on the Miccosukee glitch list was the air boat ride through the swamps. The apparent year round tour was closed. After trying to do anything we could think of to discover & experience the heritage of these people, we finally gave up and headed back up the two lane road that lead to civilization!

Undeterred we tried several other fan boat operations on our return trip. One after another, "Sorry just closed" or "He just left on the last trip!"

Now I know we only came from Key West, but we only had one day to see the everglades as well. It was at that final moment as the highway was approaching by the single digits when we read a friendly and adventurous sign. GATOR PARK TRADING POST! WELCOME…

Friends I am here to tell you that our day turned around right there. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Frank, Frank and Chuck.jpgThis was our guide out into the wild. Chuck Stuart, a very knowledgeable and fun ranger with Gator Park took us into a world of water that existed in a different set of rules. If it crawled slithered or hissed, we saw it. We not only had a birds eye view, but were learned a lot about what to watch out for…

For example: There are over 1800 species of scorpions in Florida. '09 058_edited.jpg There are 12 that are lethal. For instance, this guys looks lethal. A good rule of thumb ism "The bigger the claws, the smaller the sting. Just for the record, none of us were holding this guy.

on the other hand, I was more than happy to hold the next guy on our tour.

Frank & Larry.jpgThis is Larry. Larry is a seven year old Alligator that makes his home at Gator Park. You will notice that Larry seems a bit docile for being an Alligator. This was not the case with Larry’s big brother. I didn’t get his name, in fact nobody did. We were all plenty captivated watching wild life expert, Tom Batchelor show his skills with this and other creatures. '09 064.jpg He not only showed but also shared his knowledge of the large reptile, teaching us how those lethal jaws actually worked like a mouse trap.  Petrified the creature’s mouth sits a gap lying in wait of its unsuspecting next victim. They remain this way unless otherwise acted upon. Clearly you can see Tom (Crazy man that he is) with his hand right in the gator’s mouth. It was not until Tom gave one of the gator’s teeth a tap of his pen that we saw the true power of that massive reptilian maw. The Jaws closed with a clap of finality the suggested if you were in its clutches, you were staying in its clutches!

'09 053_edited.jpg Not everything that we ran into was savage or vicious and prepared to rip off an arm or go for the jugular at a moments notice. There were some beautiful and docile creatures that seemed to have no fear of us humans as they approached our fan boat.  Here you can see an example of a Purple Gallinule Bird.  Found in the bottom right corner of this picture it is commonly known as the Moorhen. '09 052_edited.jpg Adrian tried to snap a shot of the bird and myself and he wound up having to do a close up of just the bird. Please bear in mind that we were in a monstrous fan boat the whole time that whizzed effortlessly through the swamps at breakneck speeds. So, to his credit the shots came out very impressive given the environment.

There  were some great opportunities missed due to the giant squalls that dominated the afternoon.  Raindrops like bullets came screaming by horizontally as the boat charged on through the mire. We were lucky to get the shots we have.

It was a great trek into the unknown wilderness for this magician. I have to go back and capture everything I missed. For now though, It is back to the Schooner Wharf and Frank’s Magic Bar. See you there or on the next adventure Magic Fans!

Christmas In London

Hello Magic Fans! frankeverhart@gmail.com

It has long been a dream of mine to travel accros the pond and ply my trade in the pubs of London. Growing up I read a lot of Sherlock Holmes and ,thanks to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s pen, I developed a fascination with London. I want a chance to go there and experience the markets, the people & a Christmas goose is a must do!

I have been wowing people at my magic bar in Key West now for 12 years! Everyone is astounded by the top flight magic, ribald antics, & hillarious stories. I keep the magic bar very lively and interactive for the locals and the tourists alike. So as far as performing goes, I would like to meet some of the real people in the different areas of London. I want a chance for people at some of the smaller pubs to see and experience my special brand of Magic. I want venues where the people in the pubs are treated like families. This way I can step behidn the bar  and thrill and amaze them, while I share stories about the Schooner Wharf and my family in Key West!

I am currently planning a trip to the London area this December from the 17th – the 27th, possibly Ireland as well. I would  like to arrange to perform in a few different pubs. If you know of or have a location in mind please email me, frankeverhart@gmail.com. The price would be $750 US or 500 pounds. For that I will give your patrons an evening they will never forget.

Thank for your help and see you this Cristmas!

    Your magic friend,

    Frank Everhart Jr.

There is an enormous celebration being ‘conjured up’ that you don’t want to miss! Magicians from far and wide will be descending on Key West to observe 11 years of comedy and magic at the Schooner Wharf!

For over a decade now Frank has been delighting audiences at the Schooner Wharf with his special brand of Magic and May 15th the island is going to commemorate his leap into a second decade! One thing Schooner Wharf knows how to do is throw a good party. Take that, add a little magic and get ready for an evening you’ll remember for the rest of 2008!

The locals have treasured the hilarious good times at Frank’s Magic Bar for years, and now, the tourists do as well! They leave their suburban perches and come down year after year just to spend a few days having Frank delight them from behind his enchanting, island magic bar. “We’ve come every year for the last 6 years. We bring more people every time and always go home confused and laughing. Frank’s Magic Bar is our favorite part of Key West!” Don and Amy Miller, Baltimore, MD.

Where and when?
Schooner Wharf Bar is of course the proud home of “The only magic bar in the Florida Keys”. Show time (Party) will commence at 7 pm on May 15th, 2008 and will run until…? (Who knows?J)

The entertainment!
Your Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Frank’s dear friend, Bill Hobee (So look out already). He will begin the enchanted evening with an introduction by the Southernmost President of International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 329, Captain Bill Grosscup. Who will explain how Frank Everhart Jr.’s one night stand is only half way to his father’s amazing 21 year run in Chicago. There will be a mind bending stage appearance by Tim Glancey and illusions performances Orlando sensation Elliott Hitchcock. At Frank’s Magic bar there will be appearances by Greg Wythe, Tevis Wernicoff, Alan Gold, and Captain Bill Grosscup. Orlando Magical Arts and Design Technical Director, Doug Parker, will be present to help orchestrate the evening entertainment.

The History
Frank Everhart Sr. of course had the original Frank’s Magic Bar at the world renowned Ivanhoe Restaurant and Theater on Chicago’s prestigious North side. He held court in the days of the gangsters, fancy suits and swank automobiles.
Today, Frank Everhart Jr.’s magic bar is know for its, “No formalities, just a lot of good times!” philosophy. Frank is recognized by the International Brotherhood of Magicians as on of the foremost authorities in bar magic today. He is to be their guest of honor two weeks after his anniversary at Magic on the Beach 2008 in Miami!

Magic in Paradise
As the popularity of Frank’s Magic Bar continues to grow, so does the interest in magic. Key West has always been a haven for artists and entertainers, which has made it a haven for some incredible magicians as well. Frank is planning to speak with Mayor McPherson about proposing a festival of the conjuring arts called Magic in Paradise. Magicians from all over the world would be invited to come down and showcase at various bars and restaurants in an event that would be built around the anniversary of the magic bar every year. Frank even has hopes of getting May 15th declared “Magic Day” in Key West!

The Schooner Wharf Bar
It has to be said that all the tricks, fun, fanfare and smiles would have never happened if it was not for the Schooner Wharf. All those years ago only a cold April night Paul and Evalena Worthington gave magic a shot in their famous local bar. Frank and his fans have been grateful ever since. “I have always called Schooner Wharf, ‘The world’s local bar’. What Paul and Evalena created is a place where everyone is family. I was drawn to that magic immediately. That’s why Frank’s Magic Bar belonged at Schooner Wharf.” Frank is ever thankful for Paul and Evalena for giving his special brand of magic a proud and happy home.

The Conch Republic
Frank Everhart Jr. is also a proud member of the Conch Republic. He serves double duty as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Conch Republic Army and a Commander in the Conch Republic Navy. He is dedicated to saving and preserving the history of Key West and the Conch Republic. Frank presents the haunting of Fort Zachary Taylor every year in a fun and spooky effort to raise money for the decrepit, but once majestic fort. Last year on his 10th anniversary he was made a Fresh Water or Honorary Conch by Mayor Charles “Sonny” McCoy!

In Closing
So everybody’s got the memo now. Don’t miss this evening of incredible entertainment that will honor what is now a Key West institution, Frank’s Magic Bar at the Schooner Wharf! Frank at your event

Hello, I’m Frank Everhart Jr.

Frank Everhart Jr. / Magician
Greetings to the magic fans and the curious. My name is Frank Everhart Jr. I have been a professional magician my entire life. There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing that look of bewilderment on people’s faces when my special brand of magic takes them by storm. I say my special brand I am a second generation magician. My father was a master of wit and magic and before he left this world he charged me wit making as many people as I could smile while going through life. Needless to say, I don’t want to let him down.

Franks Magic Bar
My father had Frank’s Magic Bar in Chicago for 21 years. I haven’t beaten his record yet, but for the last 11 years I have been wowing people at my own magic Bar in Key West. The Southernmost city in the continental United States is home base for me. If you have not been, Frank’s Magic Bar in Key West is at the world Famous Schooner Wharf. It opens 9pm nightly and I mix the Magic with the Margaritas and keep the whole place on its ear as people stumble out in amazement saying, “How did-?” or “What the-!” you’d be amazed what passes for a compliment in this business.

Shows and locations
I have had the opportunity to fly all over the world performing in Reno, Lake Tahoe, The magic Castle and other private and public clubs. At the tradeshows nobody gets by. I draw them all in to be amazed and turnover the buyers with the right badges to the salesmen. At conventions, I am the ultimate ice breaker in the cocktail parties and the hospitality suites. In the main room I do a 30 minute show that is like a magical, motivational seminar. At fund raisers I keep everyone in a cheerful and giving mood.

In closing
If you have the opportunity to get to Key West, let me be the first to extend a personal invitation to Frank’s Magic Bar so you can see first hand what how my magic can take your next event to the next level for your customers and clients. If you have any further questions please call me at: (305) 879 – 0091 or email: frank@frankeverhart.com. I look forward to adventures in entertainment with you!

Frank's Magic Bar

Frank Everhart’s Magic Bar

For the last 11 years people having been walking out of  my home away from home in Key West, Franks Magic Bar at The Schooner Wharf with their jaws on the floor. Screams of laughter fill the air as cards fly all over the room landing under drinks in drinks and in places that make most people blush!

I’ve had countless,” What the-?” or “How did he-?” One guy called an exorcist and one particularly fooled girl jumped right off the dock and into the Key West Bite!

My father had the first “Frank’s Magic Bar” in Chicago for 21 years. Before he passed on, he left me instructions to keep as many people smiling on this planet as possible. So that’s exactly what I do.

Frank’s Magic Bar opens nightly at 9pm and I welcome everyone to come down and share in the fun. Celebrity guest magicians from all over the world pop in all the time. You never know who will be behind my bar, helping make your experience at Schooner Wharf unforgettable!

So come on down, grab a cold drink, and prepare to be amazed. I t will be an adventure in life you won’t soon forget! Oh… and you’ll be back, you can never get enough of this much fun!

See you at the show!
